About the Summit
Careers in wildfire range from firefighters to researchers. Although the employment and career opportunities are diverse, the specialists in this field are not. The Diversity and Wildfire Summit will introduce students in 1980 land grant universities (www.1890universities.org/) to lucrative career options while promoting diversity within the field of wildland fires.
During this two-day event, students will have the opportunity to network with other students and learn about the various options available to them in agriculture and wildfire.
Wednesday, April 19
6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Students will have the opportunity to network with other students with similar interests, speak with representatives from various governmental agencies and gain insight from wildfire professionals. Thursday, April 20
Diversity in Wildfire Summit
8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Students will learn about the profession and pertinent topics related to wildfire and agriculture from top professionals in the field, including the following:
- Real estate and Urban Planning
- ConservationCareers and Opportunities
- Effects of Fire on Personal PropertiesDrones
- Budget and planning
- Effects of Fire on Natural Resources
- GIS Mapping
